THE PERPETUA’S PRINCIPLE
“RESURRECTING DEAD LAND WITH OUR DEAD”
With creative landscape design, existing environmental know-how and the collaboration of governments, municipalities, environmentalists and industry, certain types of industrially-degraded lands could be profitably rehabilitated into attractive, environmentally-sustainable and truly-perpetual cemeteries to cover the huge burial needs of the 21st century.

Dead land - or future sustainable and perpetual cemetery?
Such impoverished, poisoned or otherwise ailing lands abound in every corner of our industrialized world - and in their post-exploitation condition, many will be hard-pressed or forever unable to serve Life’s needs. But given their quantity, distribution and price, as well as the intrinsic characteristics of certain of them, their use as perpetual cemeteries presents the only realistic solution for the perpetual land needs of the billions of dead which demographic effects will bring us.
Dedicating these degraded lands in perpetuity to our dead may in fact be the most beneficial “after-life” for many of them - because conversion into perpetual green cemeteries will benefit not only Mankind, but also the Earth. Moreover, these benefits will be truly sustainable, since the land types contemplated in this project will remain intrinsically unsuitable for other uses for centuries.
Perpetua’s Garden and the incorporated Perpetua’s Principle represent the only realistic and genuinely-sustainable perpetual cemetery solution for the masses of the 21st century:
- by using cheap and abundant degraded lands for new cemeteries, existing tracts of wilderness and green-fields are conserved for Life’s needs; and otherwise-useless industrial wastelands are put back into useful service;
- by integrating green cemetery principles into their rehabilitation, these dead lands are themselves resurrected to new life and service;
- by being able to intrinsically guarantee their perpetuity, we create eternally-sustainable sanctuaries of nature, peace and timelessness for a rootless and restless humanity.
This form of rehabilitation will also bring other economic, social and spiritual benefits - to the ordinary world citizen, to local communities, to the industries responsible for rehabilitating the degraded lands, and to governments answering to all these constituents.
